Reasoning 11 Important High Level Puzzles Set 6 Asked in Various Exams for IPPB and IDBI


Puzzle 1:

Twelve people are sitting in two parallel rows containing six people each, in such a way that there is an equal distance between adjacent persons. In row l, P, Q, R, S, T and V are seated and all of them are facing south. In row 2, A, B, C, D, E and F are seated and all of them are facing north. Therefore, in the given seating arrangement each member seated in a row faces another member of the other row. A sits third to right of D. Neither A nor D sits at extreme ends. T faces D. V does not face A and V does not sit at any of the extreme ends. V is not an immediate neighbour of T. B sits at one of the extreme ends. Only two people sit between B and E. E does not face V. Two persons sit between R and Q. R is not an immediate neighbour of T. C does not face V. P is not an immediate neighbour of R.

Puzzle 2:

Four students Amit, Bhanu, Sachin and Jagan participated in a quiz competition. It is known that the person who was wearing the black t-shirt won the quiz. All of them were sitting in a row. All of them wore t-shirts of different colours, viz. red, black, white and green. There was only one runner-up and he was sitting beside Jagan. The runner-up was wearing the red t-shirt. Sachin was not sitting at the ends and was not the runner-up. The winner and the runner-up were not sitting adjacent to each other. Jagan was wearing white t-shirt. Amit was not wearing the red t-shirt. Students wearing black t-shirt and white t-shirt were at the ends.

Puzzle 3:

Six persons Chetan, Gaurav Jatin. Karan, Sahil and Tarun who are wearing Black, White, Red, Green, Blue and YeIlow coloured t-shirts are driving different cars -Verna, City, SX4, Vento, Optra and Civic not necessarily in that order, these persons had participated in a car racing competition at the end of which each of them secured different ranks. It is also known that:
(i) Tarun secured 4th position and was driving City
(ii) The person wearing blue coloured t-shirt was driving Vento and didn't secure 2nd position
(iii) Karan wearing white coloured t-shirt was not driving Verna or Optra and he was not ranked 1st (iv) The person wearing green coloured t-shirt was ranked 6th and he was driving Optra (v)The person who secured 3rd position was driving Civic
(vi) The person who secured 1st rank was driving 3X4 and he was not wearing black or red coloured t-shirt
(vii) Chetan was wearing yellow coloured t-shirt while Tarun was not wearing red coloured t-shirt

Puzzle 4:

Seven students Rahul, Abhinav, Akash, Arnav, Kartik, Paridhi and Saumya are studying in seven different schools- BPS, BSNr CMS, RLB, DPS, SDA and LPS. They like different subjects- Maths, Science, Art, Hindi, English, Moral science and History. They read in different classes IV, V, VI, VII, VIH, IX and X, but not necessarily in the same order, Kartik studies in DPS and he is in class VI. Akash's favourite subject is English and he studies either in BSN or CMS. One who reads in CMS is in class V and likes Science. Paridhi does not like either Art or Moral Science and she is in class X and studies in LPS. One who reads in DPS likes Art. Arnav does not like Science and he is in class IV. Saumya is in class VIH and does not study in 3PS.One who studies in SDA, is in class VII. Rahul is not in class VII. One who is in class IV likes History. Abhinav does not like Hindi and Moral science.

Puzzle 5:

Four boys, Pawan, Mahesh, Chandu and Ravi, and four girls, Eti, Seema, Hina and Anita, are sitting around a circular table. Two girls and two boys are not facing the centre. No three girls are sitting together. Chandu is second to the left of Seema, who is not sitting next to Mahesh. Eti is third to the left of Anita and one of them is not facing the centre. Pawan is third to the right of Mahesh, who is facing the centre. Hina and Ravi are facing each other and both are not sitting next to Mahesh or Anita.

Puzzle 6:

A, B, C, D and E are five players, each playing for a different team, viz Red, Blue, Green, Yellow and Black. Each of them likes a different dish, viz Chicken Tikka, Pizza, Burger, Dosa and Gulabjamun, not necessarily in the same order. D plays neither for team Blue nor for team Black but likes Dosa. The player who likes Chicken Tikka plays neither for team Green nor for team Yellow. A plays for team Red but likes neither Pizza nor Burger. C plays for team Green but doesn’t likes Pizza. E likes neither Burger nor Gulabjamun. B likes neither Pizza nor Burger. The one who plays for team Black likes neither Pizza nor Gulabjamun.

Puzzle 7:

A, B, C, D, E, F and G are seven members of a club. Each of them likes one day of the week, viz Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, not necessarily in the same order. Each of them owns a different car, viz Swift, Alto, Figo, Beat, SX4, Estillo and Optra, not necessarily in the same order. C likes Wednesday and his favourite car is neither SX4 nor Optra. E does not like Monday and his favourite car is Beat. The favourite car of the one who likes Friday is Figo. The one whose favourite car is Estillo likes Tuesday. D likes Saturday and D’s favourite car is not SX4. G’s favourite car is Alto. F likes Thursday. B does not like Estillo.

Puzzle 8:

P, Q, R, S, T, V, W and X are eight persons. Each is a professor of a different subject, viz Maths, Physics, Hindi, English, Geology, Zoology, Botany and History. Each of them pursues a different hobby, viz Singing, Music, Poetry, Shayari, Painting, Tracking, Cooking and Swimming, but not necessarily in the same order. P, who likes Cooking, is a professor of neither History nor Geology. Q is a professor of English and does not like either Singing or Poetry. The one who is a professor of Maths likes Shayari. The one who likes Swimming is a professor of Physics and the one who is a professor of Botany likes Music. X doesn’t like Painting. T and V like Music and Tracking, though not necessarily in the same order. S likes Swimming. W is a professor of Zoology and doesn’t like Singing. The one who is a professor of Geology likes Tracking. R is not a professor of History. The one who is a professor of Hindi doesn’t like either Poetry or Painting.

Puzzle 9:

Seven boys A, D, Y, U, P, Q and J live in three different buildings – Ashiana, Top-view and Ridge. Each of them is flying kites of different colours i.e. red, green, blue white, black, yellow and pink, not necessarily in that order. Not more than three or less than two stay in any of the buildings. Q is flying a pink and does not live in Ridge building. U does not live in the same building as A or P and is flying a yellow coloured kite. D lives in Ridge building with only one more person and is flying a green kite. None in the Top-view building flies a white kite. P does not fly a blue kite.

Puzzle 10:

Six banks clerks Anu, Esha, Indu, Om, Uma and Yogi are working in three SBI associates banks – SBI Patiala, SBI Hyderabad, SBI Mysore. They are belonging to four different cities i.e. Delhi, Dehradoon, Agra and Ajmer. At least one clerk qorks in each bank and at least one clerk belong to each city. Uma works either in SBI Patiala or SBI Mysore. One clerk of SBI Hyderabd belongs to Delhi. Esha eithr belongs to Delhi or Dehradoon and does not work in SBI Hydrerabad. Yogi does not work with Om and Esha. Indu works in SBI Patiala and she is not from Delhi. Both the clerks of SBI Mysore are not from Ajmer. Anu is not from Ajmer and Om work with SBI Patiala. Two persons belong to Delhi and they don’t work with SBI Mysore. Person from Agra does not work in SBI Patiala. Uma is from Delhi and Om is not from Dehradoon. Clerks of same bank’s does not belong to same city.

Puzzle 11:


Twelve friends are seated along the two rows –(such that facing each other) A, B, C, D, E and F are seated in first row and facing South. P, O, R, S, T and V are seated in Second row and facing North. Q is on the immediate right of S who is facing A. D is on the immediate right of A. P, F and C are at extreme ends and nobody is seated on the right of F. Only V is seated between P and T and he is not facing B. Q is on the immediate left of R.
